Casa Beban is one of Ushuaia’s best-known examples of historic architecture. Declared part of the city’s cultural heritage, the building was assembled between 1911 and 1913 using panels ordered from Sweden by Tomás Beban, a descendant of Croatian immigrants.
The house served as a family home, then as a clinic and a hotel. After its condition deteriorated, it was moved from its original location at Maipú 857 to the Paseo de los Antiguos Pobladores, where it was restored as a cultural and exhibition center. It reopened for this purpose in November 1994.
