Old Government House: a historic museum building in Ushuaia

The Old Government House (Antigua Casa de Gobierno) is the second site of the End of the World Museum, whose main building stands at Maipú 173. This historic house, located at Maipú 465, was originally the governor’s residence and later served as the government headquarters.

At different points in its history, it was also home to the first Radio Nacional station in Ushuaia, the police headquarters, the Territorial Legislature and the Provincial Legislature.

Its eight exhibition rooms present objects connected with legislative activity and other important episodes in Tierra del Fuego’s history.

How to visit

The museum is included in the End of the World Museum visit. Check the provincial museum’s official information for current hours, tickets and guided tours.
