This complete tour that combines the ride on the End of the World Train and a visit to the Tierra del Fuego National Park will take you through the most beautiful landscapes of the Fuegian territory.
You will get to know the valley of the Pipo River, surrounded by mountains, waterfalls and ancient forests. As we continue along the train route, you will discover the rich history of the region, from the first native peoples to the European explorers and the prisoners who built the famous Southern Railway.
In addition, you will have the opportunity to explore the Tierra del Fuego National Park and its surroundings, with stops at emblematic places such as Lake Acigami (former Roca), Bahía Bahía Lapataia and much more.
After a tour of Ushuaia through the passenger accommodations, we will head southwest to take National Route No. 3, which brings us closer to Tierra del Fuego National Park.
We will make a stop before reaching our destination, at the Equestrian Center, where we will be able to contemplate fantastic panoramic views of the Beagle Channel, the Ushuaia peninsula and the Bridges, Willie and Les Eclauriers archipelagos.
After a moment of contemplation and photographs we will continue to cross the Pipo River bridge, next to the Ushuaia Golf Club, a few minutes later we will be arriving at the Ferrocarril Austral Fueguino station, where the renowned End of the World Train is located.
This tour departs from the End of the World station, a historic place that used to be visited by prisoners 100 years ago to board the Fuegian Southern Railway.
Once on board, the ride begins. There you will have the opportunity to recognize the Cañadón del Toro, cross the Pipo River over the “burnt bridge”, where you can see the wooden ruins of the old bridge, under the new tracks.
The Train makes a first stop at the “Cascada La Macarena” Station. At this point, you can ascend to the viewpoint that offers an excellent view of the Pipo River valley and also observe the “La Macarena” waterfall. At the same time, optionally, you can take a short walk to see the representation of a typical settlement of Los Yámanas, one of the original peoples that inhabited these lands hundreds of years ago.
After this tour, the train ride continues with its march along the banks of the Pipo River. It is very interesting how you can still see sectors along the ride where the imprint of the prisoners’ actions still resides.
The tour comes to an end at the Tierra del Fuego National Park station.
After getting off the Train, and approaching the entrance of the Tierra del Fuego National Park about 2 km further, the tour begins.
To begin, we will enter a path of Lengas forests and peat bogs, until we reach Lake Acigami (formerly Roca), this is of glacial origin and its surface is 5.50 square kilometers. We will be able to observe its entire environment surrounded by mountains and forests, where we will probably also have the possibility of spotting some native birds.
Then we will visit the park services area, where we will have 30 free minutes to walk around, visit the interpretation area, rest with a hot drink and record the landscape in countless photos.
We return to the walk to head towards the Lapataia Bay area, where we approach the sea coast, here we can notice that it is full of mollusks and mussels, and also in this area we will find vestiges of the ancient native people that inhabited the area. . We will have a period of time to tour the entire area and visit the walkway from which everyone will be eager to take photographs and breathe nature at the End of the World.
From this place, which is located at the end of National Route No. 3, the return to the city of Ushuaia will begin.
This tour is accessible for people with reduced mobility since the points visited have access ramps and have space for wheelchair storage. There are also adapted toilets in the different points visited. We also have trained personnel to advise and assist people with reduced mobility.
