Discover the wildlife living alongside the city on a private urban birdwatching tour in Ushuaia. This easy-paced activity explores coastal nature reserves, wetlands and places near the forest, where you may spot some of Tierra del Fuego’s characteristic birds.
Over approximately three hours, explore several natural environments without going far from the city, combining bird observation, wildlife photography and an introduction to the local landscape.
The experience is private for groups of up to eight people and can be adapted to photographers and birdwatchers.

Ushuaia is surrounded by natural habitats. The closeness of the Beagle Channel, coastal wetlands and Andean-Patagonian forest creates excellent birdwatching opportunities even on a short route.
One of the highlights is Bahía Encerrada Urban Nature Reserve, a wetland in the city that provides habitat for a variety of birds. Here, you can look for waterbirds and species such as snipes and remolineras (streamcreepers).
The tour continues to selected points along the Beagle Channel coastline, where the landscape and the possibilities for observing different species change. The guide explains how birds use the coastal, urban and natural environments.
Observation stops may offer the chance to look for birds of prey such as the southern caracara (carancho blanco) and black-chested buzzard-eagle (águila mora), among other possible sightings.
The route can be tailored to your interests: photographers may take more time to prepare their shots, while birdwatchers can focus on finding and identifying species.
The guide carries a spotting scope for use during observation stops. As with all wildlife experiences, sightings depend on the birds’ behavior and the day’s natural conditions.
The excursion lasts approximately three hours, with a choice of start time based on availability. The original listing states that the last departure is at 4:00 p.m.; confirm the schedule with the operator when booking.
Operator: Konux.
If you are a birdwatcher, bring your own binoculars if possible. If you prefer nature photography, bring your camera equipment. The guide has a spotting scope to share during observation stops.
Not normally. Tierra del Fuego's weather can change quickly, so wear layers and a waterproof jacket. Sightings depend on wildlife behavior and the natural conditions of the day.
