Easter 2025 in Ushuaia: Nature, Adventure and Tradition

Easter is a popular opportunity to take a short break and visit Ushuaia, the city at the End of the World. The original guide for Easter 2025 recommended a combination of outdoor adventure, impressive scenery and regional food. Although that holiday has passed, many of these experiences are good ideas for any autumn trip to Tierra del Fuego.

Here are the activities highlighted by the guide, together with advice about clothing, accommodation and getting around in Ushuaia.

Weather and Recommended Clothing

April marks the beginning of autumn in Tierra del Fuego. The original guide described typical cool temperatures of around 5–12°C, although actual temperatures, wind chill and precipitation can vary considerably.

Wear layers: a thermal base layer, a fleece or sweater, and a windproof or waterproof jacket. A hat, gloves and comfortable waterproof footwear are useful for excursions. Check the forecast and Ushuaia’s average temperatures before packing.

Must-Do Excursions and Activities

During an Easter break, Ushuaia offers a wide range of experiences, from nature adventures to historical and culinary tours. The original guide highlighted five.

1. Beagle Channel Cruise

One of Ushuaia’s most emblematic excursions is a cruise along the Beagle Channel. From a catamaran you can view Les Éclaireurs Lighthouse, the sea lion islets and Bird Island. This is also an excellent way to appreciate the city and the surrounding Andes from the water. The lighthouse is associated with many local stories; learn more in our lighthouse guide.

2. Hiking in Tierra del Fuego National Park

Tierra del Fuego National Park offers forests, mountains and coastal scenery, with walking trails of different difficulties. The Coastal Trail and routes near Lapataia Bay are among the options for visitors who want an active outing.

Walking distances can be adapted to the needs of your group, but always check seasonal trail conditions and choose suitable routes. If you want a more comprehensive excursion, consider a combined national park and Beagle Channel package with transfers.

Depending on your flight and accommodation check-in time, a luggage storage service can help you explore without carrying your suitcases around the city.

3. The End of the World Train

The historic End of the World Train is one of Ushuaia’s most distinctive experiences. The journey brings to life the history of the former prisoners who helped build and use the railway while providing remarkable views of Fuegian forests and rivers.

It combines history and a beautiful natural setting. After the train and national park, you may want to relax at a café or bar; the original guide suggested places such as Jeremy Button Gintonería, subject to current opening details.

4. The Fuegian Lakes: Lago Escondido and Lago Fagnano

An excursion to Lago Escondido and Lago Fagnano takes you into impressive landscapes in the heart of Tierra del Fuego. Some 4×4 experiences follow National Route 3 and gravel roads through forests and valleys, providing a different view of the island. Route and access depend on the chosen operator and weather conditions.

The original guide highlighted Lagos Fueguinos Full Experience as a way to combine nature and adventure.

5. Landscapes and Local Food

The Paisajes y Delicias excursion was described as a mix of history, culture, nature and regional flavors. In the original itinerary, the tour began along Avenida Maipú, including the Civic Plaza, the Former Government House and the old church of Nuestra Señora de la Merced.

After a photo stop by Ushuaia’s city sign, the excursion continued toward the Naval Base and the former prison. The original route also included the Héroes de Malvinas viewpoint with panoramic scenery, a short walk through the Fuegian forest and a tasting of local sweets with views over the Beagle Channel.

Confirm the current route and tasting before booking, as details may change between seasons.
