The Train at the End of the World:

Maritime and Presidio Museum:
The Ushuaia Recidivist Prison and Military Prison housed maximum security criminals, sent to the End of the World to serve their sentences under severe discipline and workload. The building that housed the Presidio is now a national historic monument. Two of its wings and the central wing preserve the historical features of the prison and house the Maritime Museum. In addition to learning about the daily life of the convicts, visitors enter the fascinating world of navigation at the End of the World and learn stories of shipwrecks and expeditions to the Antarctic Continent.
Museum of the End of the World:
The history, archeology and famous people of Tierra del Fuego are displayed here in exhibits, models and displays. During your visit you will find archaeological remains, reproductions of indigenous utensils; scenographic recreations; photographs from the late 1800’s; stories of adventurers, navigators, missionaries and gold prospectors; documents of scientific expeditions, shipwrecks and a large exhibition of birds. City Museum:

Beban House Museum:
Don Fortunato Beban, a pioneer from Tierra del Fuego, built this house where today an exhibition center is located. Manufactured in Sweden, the blocks were transported by ship and arrived at the Ushuaia dock in 1902. Its original location was on Maipú Avenue between 9 de Julio and Juan Manuel de Rosas Streets. Today it is located in the Paseo de las Rosas, and is open to the general public as part of the “Old Town Project”.
Pensar Malvinas Museum:
Inaugurated on April 2, 2012 in the Torres house, located in the Pueblo Viejo sector of the Paseo de las Rosas, this space exhibits photographic material, information panels, and historical elements related to the 1982 Malvinas Islands conflict.
Thematic Gallery “Historia Fueguina”:
This proposal takes visitors on a journey through the history of the native peoples of Tierra del Fuego, and the exploits of navigators, adventurers and scientists who explored the area, such as Captain Fitz Roy and the naturalist and biologist Charles Darwin.

Tolhuin is the youngest town in the province, founded in 1972.
