What to do in Ushuaia: Visit the penguin colony at the End of the World

The navigation begins at the city’s Tourist Dock, heading towards the center of the Beagle Channel. As we enter the Canal, we will obtain a privileged panoramic view of the Ushuaia coast. Significant buildings for the history of the city stand out before the eyes of passengers: the Maritime Museum (former prison), Museum of the End of the World, the industrial area, and the Olivia and Cinco Hermanos mountains.

Towards the southwest you can see Los Lobos Island, from the boat you can see magnificent sea lions, a captivating natural setting.

The next destination we will go to is the Isla de Los Pájaros, a place where Magellanic Cormorants, Imperial Cormorants and other multiple specimens of the marine avifauna of Ushuaia coexist.

Continuing with the navigation we head towards the Les Eclaireurs Lighthouse or renowned Lighthouse at the End of the World, which is located in the archipelago that has the same name. Here it is also possible to see parts of the Monte Cervantes, a ship that sank in 1930.

Sailing towards the southern coast of the Big Island of Tierra del Fuego you can see the Estancia Remolino where the ship Monte Sarmiento is stranded. We will cross the Beagle Channel in a North-South direction, at which time we will be able to see Gable Island and the Puerto Williams Naval Base (located on Navarino Island, Republic of Chile).

The next destination is Martillo Island. Here we will have the opportunity to go to the beach and stay there to observe how the colony of Magellanic Penguins that nest during the summer approach the boat with curiosity, play and enter the sea by swimming under the catamaran to re-emerge. A unique and wonderful moment that invites you to record it in countless photographs.

After the pleasant walk, we sailed back to the Tourist Dock. We will find the Túnel and Fique Estancias on the way to finish the tour.
