The starting point of navigation through the Beagle Channel to the Pingüinera is the Ushuaia Tourist Dock. We embark towards the center of the Canal, obtaining a panoramic view of the city’s coast to admire its most significant buildings: the Maritime Museum (former prison), the Museum of the End of the World and the industrial area, as well as the Olivia and Mounts. Sailing towards the southwest, towards the island of Los Lobos, numerous groups of sea lions are seen in their natural habitat. A wonderful setting that you will not be able to fail to record in your memory and surely in more than one photograph.
As the next attraction, the tour will take us to the island of Los Pájaros, a paradise full of marine birds. It stands out for being the habitat of Magellanic and Imperial Cormorants and also of other birds such as Kelp and Gray Gulls, Steamer Ducks, Terns, Biguás, Cauquenes and Petrels. Safety pin!
Subsequently, we sail towards one of the favorite attractions of those who visit the end of the world, the renowned Les Eclaireurs Lighthouse, which is located in the archipelago that bears the same name. Here we will also have the possibility of observing parts of Monte Cervantes, a ship that shipwrecked in 1930.
The itinerary continues and will take us closer to the southern coast of the Big Island of Tierra del Fuego where we will see the Estancia Remolino, the site where the ship Monte Sarmiento is stranded.
Next, crossing the Beagle Channel in a North-South direction is Gable Island and the Puerto Williams Naval Base (located on Navarino Island, Republic of Chile) to arrive at the long-awaited Martillo Island, where we will have the opportunity to get close to the beach. and stay there, to be spectators of a memorable scene, the long-awaited Pingüinera.
The colony of Magellanic Penguins that nest there usually approach the boat with notable curiosity, enter the sea by swimming under the catamaran and re-emerge. Unique scenarios that remain in the memories of those who venture on this wonderful journey. It is the opportunity to capture the entire panorama with photos, to immortalize the moment.
After the time for appreciation and photographs, the return of this navigation through the Beagle Channel to the Pingüinera is approaching, heading in the direction of the Tourist Dock. A journey close to the Canal coast, which allows you to continue appreciating the benefits of southern nature.
On the way back we will have the possibility of contemplating the Túnel, Remolino and Fique Estancias, the semi-sunken hull of the Monte Sarmiento Steamship and the Playa Larga Natural Reserve. To close the walk, we will find the delight of the views of the city with the Cordón Martial as a background.
