USHUAIA BY SEA AND LAND: BEAGLE CHANNEL NAVIGATION + TIERRA DEL FUEGO NATIONAL PARK + ROUND-TRIP TRANSFERS

Navigation through the Beagle Channel:

Leaving from the Ushuaia Tourist Dock, we begin navigation. We head towards the Beagle Channel, being able to enjoy as we move further away, a phenomenal panoramic view of the city’s coast, seeing at the same time the most important buildings: Maritime Museum (old prison), Museum of the End of the World , the industrial area, and the Olivia and Cinco Hermanos mountains.

Heading southwest, we will approach the island of Los Lobos. From the boat, you can enjoy seeing specimens of sea lions in their permanent habitat, without a doubt, an unforgettable setting.

Continuing navigation, the next point we will go to is the island of Los Pájaros. Recognized for being the habitat of Magellanic cormorants and Imperial cormorants and also a privileged area to contemplate other specimens of marine avifauna.

The next point we will go to is the Les Eclaireurs Lighthouse, located in the archipelago that bears the same name, where the ship Monte Cervantes also shipwrecked in 1930.

The return to the city is through Paso Chico, with views of the Túnel and Fique Estancias. We will approach the coast again, contemplating the imposing setting that Mount Martial and the glacier that bears the same name give the city.

Excursion to Tierra del Fuego National Park:

We will travel along National Route N°3, towards the Tierra del Fuego National Park. This Route is characterized by being narrow, winding and gravel. Therefore, the route is done at a low speed, which allows you to appreciate the landscapes from the first moment of the journey.

There are eleven kilometers that separate the city of Ushuaia from the access to the park. Before arriving, there will be a stop near the Equestrian Center, to contemplate extraordinary panoramic views of the Beagle Channel, the Ushuaia peninsula and the Bridges, Willie and Les Eclauriers archipelagos.

Later, we will cross the Pipo River bridge, where next to the Ushuaia Golf Club, we will find the Ferrocarril Austral Fueguino station, which houses the End of the World Train. Passengers can board it optionally. Those who wish to continue with the walk can do so as well.

The route takes 2 more kilometers to finally arrive at the National Park, a protected area that combines the Subantarctic Forest, lakes, valleys, mountains and peat bogs. Flora and fauna of the most southern and native nature.

A walk begins where we will find ourselves surrounded by Lengas forests and peat bogs, to Lake Acigami (former Roca), a lake of glacial origin, with an area of ​​5.50 square kilometers. You can see how the lake is framed by mountains and forests, where it is also possible to spot specimens of native birds.

Here we will have 30 free minutes in the service area.

Approaching the end of the tour, we will visit Lapataia Bay, where you can contemplate the convergence of mountains and a marine coast rich in mollusks and mussels. Also here we will find remains of the ancient native people that inhabited the region.

At this point, there will be enough time to walk the walkway from which it is recommended to take many photographs and marvel at the impressive scenes of the End of the World.

Finding ourselves at the end of National Route No. 3, the return to the city of Ushuaia will begin.

Important: for those who rent cars, keep in mind that in winter the snow makes traffic on the route difficult and covers with nails must be used.

Inside the Park is the Alakush Visitor Center where you can access the information you need, there is an interpretation area, a service area and a cafeteria.
