It opened as the Territorial Museum on May 18, 1979, in the former Banco de la Naci\u00f3n Argentina building at <strong>Maip\u00fa 173<\/strong>. In 1990 it adopted its current name; the <strong>Old Government House at Maip\u00fa 465<\/strong> became part of the museum in 2008.<\/p>\n<p>Its collections tell the history of Tierra del Fuego, including the island&#8217;s indigenous peoples, traditional objects and customs, local wildlife and shipwrecks along the coast.<\/p>\n<h3>Visiting both museum buildings<\/h3>\n<p>The museum offers admission covering both the original site and the Old Government House annex. The provincial tourism service describes the ticket as valid for three days.
